Obituary of Betty L. O'Neal

Betty L. O'Neal, 79, of Davenport, FL passed away 1/27/15. She was born 4/4/1935 in Kilfoil, NE to Ralph and Ardis Smith. She married Paul "Buddy" O'Neal on 9/15/54. Buddy joined the Air Force and they traveled for 22 years. They had 2 children, Bill and Paula. After retiring from the Air Force they came back to Davenport, FL. After her children left home, she went to Ridge Vo Tech and took secretarial classes. They liked her so much, they hired her and she worked there for 17 years. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Davenport for 40 years where she was a member of the Funeral Ministry, Widow's Ministry and worked in the nursery and preschool as well as teaching a Sunday school class. She was predeceased by her husband Buddy O'Neal; brothers, LeRoy Smith and Don Smith. Betty is survived by her son William "Bill" O'Neal; daughter, Paula (Robert) Dodd; Brothers, Bob Smith, Gene Smith; grandchildren, Angie (Brian) O'Neal Richards, Daniel O'Neal, Beth (Mike) Gaffney, Leslie Dodd and 7 great grandchildren. A celebration of friends will be Friday from 10 am until the celebration of life service at 11 am at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
