Obituary of Margaret Lamb Katros

Margaret Lamb Katros, longtime resident of Winter Haven, passed peacefully away in her family home Tuesday, June 22 at age 91. Margaret, youngest daughter of Ila and Clarence Lamb, was born in Winter Haven and raised with four siblings, Mildred, Charles, Doris and Donald. She graduated from high school in Leesburg, attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville and settled back in Winter Haven where she worked in a law firm. She met and married John Katros in 1954 and started their family with twin boys, George and Wade, in 1956. Life was very busy with the twins when daughter, Lisa, was born in 1959. Margarets’ life was full with children, pets, church and family-- she was an excellent cook and learned many of the Greek recipes from her husbands’ side, sharing her baklava with friends and family at Christmastime. A devoted wife and mother, Margaret and her husband raised their children with steadfast love and firm discipline. She was a faithful child of God and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ where she loved to study the bible and sing favorite hymns. Later in life, she found a passion for tennis and played until her 70’s, enjoying fellowship with her team and partners. Margaret loved music, especially opera and classical, travelling the U.S. with her husband in their RV with beloved yellow labs, and following Florida State football. She possessed a keen knowledge of sports and could remember notable players from tennis, baseball and football. Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, John. She is survived by sons, George Katros (Debbie Careathers,) Wade Katros (David Hamilton), daughter, Lisa Endres (Bob), grandson, Porter Summers (Sarah), great granddaughter, Sophie, brother Donald Lamb (Laurel Lea), brother in law, Mitch Katros (Heide), sister in law, Julie Chrisoherris, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service to be held Monday, June 28th at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven, visitation 10-11 a.m., service at 11. Burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park.
