Obituary of Albert Victor Colpaert

WINTER HAVEN, FL Albert Victor Colpaert passed peacefully after a brief illness on March 12, 2022, at Winter Haven Hospital. Born in Clinton Township, Michigan on November 11, 1943, to Achiel and Laura Colpaert, Albert was one of four children. After graduating high school, Albert served in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police. Albert later became a truck driver and loader at the Detroit Produce Terminal, working for Nathan Gilbert & Sons and later Aunt Mid’s Produce and The Eastern Market. Always keeping a hand in farming Al either worked a farm with his sister Marie and her family or had a garden of some proportion. In 1974 he had met Edna Hooker and they were virtually inseparable ever since. He became a part of Edna’s life and family playing a valuable role in the lives of her two sons, Alan and Scott. In 1989 he and Edna retired to Florida, but Al did not stay retired for long. Again, always the farmer, he purchased orange groves and became active in the citrus industry. Everyone who met Al, whether it was a neighbor or someone he did business with always commented on his good nature and friendly demeanor. Al was predeceased by his parents and sister, Marie Brohl. He leaves behind his two stepsons and many nieces and nephews as well as sisters Eleanore Van Thomme and Lorainne Malburg. There will be a private interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL
