Obituary of Patty Davis

Betty “Patty” Davis of Haines City, Florida passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was 81. 

Patty was born on October 7, 1940 in Loughman, Florida to George and Ella Fare. Stewart Hancock, and has lived her whole life here in Polk County, Florida. Some of the earlier memories of Patty include her working picking cotton and tobacco, and as a country music artist, where she played the drums and was lead singer, in fact she collaborated with the likes of George Jones, Sonny James and Merle Haggard, to name a few. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Eastern Star. Later in life she and her husband, enjoyed their time together travelling, both here and abroad, as well as spending time at their 2nd home in North Carolina, tending to their garden and canning. Patty also loved the beach and going fishing. She will always be remembered as being “down to earth” and for her cat, that she had for some 20 years, Fluffy.  

Patty is predeceased by her parents, George and Ella Fare Hancock; her husband, Lt. Colonel Lawrence E. Davis; her son, Tony Prestwood and her sister, Gloria Fay Henry. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Hancock of Missouri; her aunt, Sarah Jane Zink of Loughman, Florida; her brother-in-law, Sam Henry of Davenport, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 3:00 pm until the funeral at 4:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
