Obituary of Alvin "Dan" Bryan

Alvin "Dan" Bryan, 73, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on July 26, 2022.  

Dan was born in Bartow, Florida and lived in Florida most of his life after his travels in the service. He enlisted in the army in 1967. Dan earned numerous awards while serving, he received National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Badges (M-16 Rifle) (Carbine). 

He was also a 32nd degree mason with Scottish rites, JC’s Regional director and he helped with the youth at Trinity Congregation. Dan was a Ronald McDonald House Chairman. He was an avid sports memorabilia collector. He loved collecting Nascar and enjoyed watching the Florida Gators and listening to Elvis Presly and most of all listening to his loving wife sing. His grandson Colton was his life and his best friend.  

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Martha; sister, Susan Thompson. Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 51 plus years, Cheryl; daughter, Heather Lynn (Andrew) Recchia; brother, Clifton Dyal; sister, Patsy (Donald) Smith; grandson, Colton Recchia.  

Dan will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Dan's favorite charities, Ronald McDonald House, Masonic Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 11:00 at Hope Presbyterian Church 2110 Cypress Gardens Blvd.
