Obituary of Delmo Faulkner
Delmo “Del” Faulkner, 86, a longtime resident of Winter Haven, FL, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022.
Delmo was born on Jan. 21, 1936, to Cauley W. and Marie R. Faulkner in Valdosta, GA. He graduated from Winter Haven High School and retired after 40 years from Polk County Public Schools, where he worked as a Textbook Clerk. Del was a longtime member of Inman Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He served in the the National Guard, and was an active member of the Winter Haven Optimist Club.
Delmo enjoyed fishing, playing tennis, and cheering on the Florida Gators. He loved trips to North Carolina to see leaves turn colors in the fall and in the summer with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Del was devoted to his family and greatly enjoyed get-togethers. He was always proud that he was able to see Elvis Presley perform live at the Polk Theater in Lakeland in 1956. He collected Elvis memorabilia and enjoyed listening to his music. Del never met a sweet treat he didn’t like but you would never know it because somehow, he always stayed thin. Del was a big kid at heart and enjoyed riding rollercoasters and waterslides with his great-grandchildren well into his 70s. He was a very kind and generous person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo Faulkner; brother, Donald Faulkner; son, Tyron "Ty" Faulkner; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary R. Faulkner; brother, James Faulkner of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Max Faulkner of Winter Haven; grandsons, Cameron of Seymour, TN and Colton Faulkner of Lake Wales, FL; stepchildren Steve Rogers, wife Tona of Sebring, FL, Chris Rogers, wife Robin of Winter Haven, and Vicki Rogers Hicks of Winter Haven; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, Oct. 17. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, FL. Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
