Obituary of David Higgins

David Higgins, Sr., 79, of Lake Hamilton, Florida passed away on October 16, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on September 4, 1943, in Erwin, Tennessee to Foy Elmer and Roxie Shelton Higgins and moved to Polk County, Florida in 1973 from Newark, Delaware. David was a retired truck driver, who worked tireless hours to provide for his family. He loved to watch football, and listen to music, he was very fond of his son, Dennis’ band and enjoyed going to listen to him play. David also had a love for fishing, so much so, that he spent some time running a family bait shop in Lake Hamilton, where he made a lot of fond memories and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Wayne Higgins, and is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Beverly Ann Higgins; son, David Higgins, Jr. and his wife, Mercedes and their family of 7 children and numerous grandchildren; son, Dennis Higgins and his wife, Amy and their family of 1 daughter and 4 granddaughters as well as sisters, Wilma Miller and Norma Hall.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm and the funeral will be Friday, October 21, 2022, at 1 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, FL.
