Obituary of Jose Juan Sanchez

Jose Juan Sanchez, 71, of Davenport, Florida passed away on November 13, 2022. He was born on September 24, 1951 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico to Juan Sanchez and Candida Melendez. Jose was a proud veteran who served our country in the United States Army for 6 1/2 years, obtaining the rank of a Specialist 4 and he was awarded the Marksman Badge M-16 Rifle and the Good Conduct Medal. Jose lived more than 30 years in the Bronx, NY, before moving back to Puerto Rico. He moved to Florida in 2001 from Guayama, Puerto Rico, worked as a pool technician for 11 years at Gaylord Palms and Reunion Resorts, retiring in 2013. Jose then started working at Walmart in maintenance until he couldn’t anymore. He was a member of the Living Water Fellowship Church in Kissimmee, Florida.  

Jose enjoyed golfing, playing dominoes, softball, riding horses, jet skis and flying birds. He loved the beach, dancing salsa, and watching movies on Netflix. Jose loved to make everyone laugh as well as helping others. He also enjoyed going to car shows so he could see his favorite muscle cars. While in Puerto Rico he belonged to a Suzuki car club and it was said that he was the life of the party and the funniest man. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Willy and Roberto Sanchez. Jose leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, of 45 years, Nora A. Sanchez; sons, Robert Sanchez and Serafin Rosa; brothers, Rafael and David Sanchez; sister, Diana Villacis and husband, Mario; grandchildren, Kaylie, Angelica, and Sofia; great grandson, Ryder May; and close friend, Carlos Martinez and wife, Elizabeth.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 to 7 p.m. with the service being at 5:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida. A military service and graveside service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
