Obituary of Robert Michael "Fuzzy" Flores

Robert Michael Flores affectionately known to his friends and family as “Fuzzy” passed away November 10, 2022 at his residence. He was 69 years old. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on February 25, 1953 and moved to Haines City in the early 1970’s from Hartford, Michigan. 

Fuzzy was a former truck driver and owner-operator for several years. He then decided to switch careers and become a small business owner, allowing him to spend more time at home with his children. He first acquired a local feed and livestock supply store. He enjoyed playing pool and later opened Fuzzy’s Game Room, a popular arcade and pool hall in Haines City. His love of golf led him to a career in golf course maintenance. He retired in May 2019 as Operations Manager at Four Lakes Golf Club. 

He was a lover of all sports, a fan of NASCAR, NFL football, NBA basketball and NLB baseball, if it was on he was watching it. He participated in many softball leagues with his brother and sisters. His position was primarily pitcher and he coached many women’s, men’s, co-Ed and youth teams. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed many wonderful days out on the lake. He developed many long-lasting friendships with fellow fisherman serving as an officer in various bass clubs through the years. Leading up and into his retirement he participated in The Thursday Night Open Series bass tournaments, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved to vacation in his home state of Michigan where he would relax with his Mom and family, fishing in his family’s pond, playing golf with his brother and gathering around the card table for low-stakes poker, plenty of friendly banter and many good laughs. He enjoyed watching classic Western movies and shows, particularly a fan of John Wayne “The Duke” and the characters he played. 

Fuzzy was predeceased by his father Richard Gorsline, his wife Dorothy Flores and his brother James “Jimmy” Flores. He is survived by his mother, Alice Gorsline, a son Michael Flores, daughters Michelle Flores and Marcy Flores-Kannan. His beloved siblings Diane Collins, Theresa Steilen, Joyce Genereaux, Robin Gorsline, Martha Maldonado and Mary Hayes. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and he was a proud Grandpa to his Grandsons Jacob Otte, Jared Otte and Jonathan Otte. 

Fuzzy is deeply missed by all who knew him. There will be a Celebration of his extraordinary life at The Lake Eva Event Center Sunday, February 26th at 3:00 pm.
