Sharida Scott

Obituary of Sharida Scott

Sharida was born on July 10th, 1970, in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago to Motilal Ramdeen and Salima Khan. She passed away on October 13th, 2023, after a fierce battle with bile duct cancer in Winter Haven, Florida, surrounded by her daughters.

She grew up in Exchange Estate village with her three siblings. She spent most of her time at the beach, climbing trees in her father’s garden, playing cricket, or helping her siblings with homework. She loved to get dressed up, as seen in her professional modeling career, or, later in life, posing for silly pictures. She immigrated to the United States in the ‘90s to develop her faith and build a strong foundation for her family.

Sharida was a hardworking woman, motivated to give her daughters a better life. Somehow, after working a 90-hour week, she still managed to make a home for her three toddlers and teenage daughter. Even while she was spread thin, her warmth remained, whether it was in doing her daughters’ hair before school or performing in their rock band as the lead singer!

Even now, she’s remembered as the person who kept people smiling, whether it was through her pranks or the care she provided. Sharida was gifted at making a family out of everyone around her—neighbors, coworkers, and classmates alike shared a deep love for her. Her friends from Polk County and Piddler’s Pointe would all agree that there was guaranteed laughter when she was around. They will remember her for her spicy, cultural dishes, generous nature, and her lovely, but dangerous laugh!

Adventure always intrigued her, so Sharida became a travel nurse and worked in some beautiful places. Her favorite was Jekyll Island, Georgia where she enjoyed visiting Driftwood Beach, plenty of lighthouses, and eating the most delicious shrimp and grits. Among others, she worked in Alabama, where she visited Cheaha State Park and discovered her love for hiking.

Everyone who knew Sharida knew that she loved to decorate, so during the holidays, you could always find her at Hobby Lobby. During Christmastime, walking into her home was like walking into a Winter Wonderland. Everything was transformed to be more beautiful when Sharida was around.

Sharida is survived by her dedicated and loving family. She, and her shenanigans, will be  missed by all.

Sharida spread so much warmth and beauty throughout her lifetime, so please join us in honoring her by gifting roses and sunflowers at the end of the service.
