David Franklin Owens

David Franklin Owens of Winter Haven, FL, passed away at 89 years old on November 9, 2023. He was born in Walhalla, SC, to the late Rev Ocie and Mollie Owens and was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and his in-laws, Russell and Billie Bayne. He treasured his family and is survived by his faithful wife JoAnn having recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, sister Wilma Owings, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Lloyd McGrady, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Chesna Owens, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His extended family was also very precious to him including many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

David had a full 37-year career with Sears, transferring throughout the southeast and retiring as store manager in Lakeland, FL.

As a member of First Baptist Church Winter Haven since 1975 he loved people and being an active part of his church and community organizations. He also enjoyed playing golf and following baseball and football.

Memorial services will be conducted at Winter Haven First Baptist Church on Nov. 17, 2023. Friends will be received at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Additional services will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, SC, on Nov. 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont, SC.

The Oak Ridge Funeral Home in Winter Haven, FL, and Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, SC, are managing the interment proceedings.
