Obituary of Hinson McTeer

Hinson McTeer, 89, of Haines City, FL passed away on November 19, 2023. Born on February 15, 1934 in Beaufort, SC to Leon and Annabelle Varnadoe McTeer. He moved to Eagle Lake, FL in 1934 from Walterboro, SC and he was a member of Epic Church in Lakeland for the last 25 years.   

Hinson was a businessman, real estate investor, and former owner of the Orange Blossom Citrus industry. After retiring as a manager at Goodyear in Haines City, he dedicated time to Gideons International. But his real joy came from his family, helping others, sports, hunting, and fishing. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bert McTeer; daughter, Pam Causey; brothers, Ted and Bobby McTeer; and sisters, Eleanor Walsh, Doris Maxwell, Arlene Emenaker, Merle Jones and Shirley Chapman. Hinson is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Agnes; daughter, Brenda McTeer; son in law, Robert Causey; brothers, Everett and Fred McTeer; 3 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 am at Ridge Community Church of God in Dundee, FL. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City. There will be a reception after the burial at the church.
