Obituary of John Robert "Johnny" De Gregorio

John Robert "Johnny" De Gregorio, 62, of Davenport, FL, passed away on December 3, 2023, at his son's residence. Born on July 27, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY, to Dominick and Roberta Palestrini De Gregorio. John spent over 30 years as a driver in both New York and Florida and he held firm to his Catholic faith throughout his life.

John had a deep passion for movies, particularly those in the horror, action, and comedy genres. He also had a fondness for television, and his all-time favorite TV shows were "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." John was an avid sports enthusiast, with a love for baseball, basketball, and football. As a devoted fan, he cheered for the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, and the New York Giants. In his youth, John played football and baseball, and in his later years, he participated in a softball league for adults. He cherished the time spent playing basketball and baseball with his children. John loved pizza, and given the chance, he could eat it every day. He thoroughly enjoyed dining out, especially savoring Italian cuisine. His affection for dogs was evident, and among them, Cosmo, a Labrador Retriever, held a special place in his heart. His last furry companion, Bane, an English Mastiff, brought him joy and comfort.

John was a music enthusiast, particularly favoring 80's classic rock, with AC/DC, Foreigner, Journey, ZZ Top, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Guns N' Roses, and Jimmy Buffett being some of his cherished bands. Known for his sociable and friendly nature, John had a knack for getting along with everyone. He was a supportive friend who would go to great lengths, even sending money to those in need, even if he wouldn't have much himself. His caring, giving, and loyal demeanor made him a beloved figure. John was known for being understanding, intelligent, and nonjudgmental, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a sympathetic ear. His generosity was evident as he would readily give the shirt off his back to anyone facing hardship.
