Obituary of William Frank Herman
William (Bill) Herman was reunited with his late wife of 58 years, Victoria, on December 18, 2023. He was a resident of Water’s Edge of Lake Wales Retirement Community in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Frank Herman, along with his sister, Susan (Roy) Eaton.
William is survived by his four children: Lisa (William) Strebin, Cheryl Spencer (Richard Grinnell), both of Winter Haven, Florida; Christopher (Susan) Herman of Severn, Maryland; and Kelly Herman-Alcas (Victor Alcas Velarde) of Belmont, North Carolina. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Ashley Spencer (Bruce Froehlich), Kari Strebin, Rachael Grinnell (Samantha Conley), Nathan (Kimbrly) Spencer, Olivia Alcas-Herman, and Samuel Alcas-Herman, along with seven great-grandchildren: Austin (Cassandra), Lucas, Chloe, Gavin, Sofia, Benjimen, and Hunter.
William was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 5, 1942. He graduated from Technical Memorial High School in 1960 and went on to serve in the Air Force until 1964. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California, he met his future wife Victoria in 1963. They were married in Oakland on September 26, 1964. They moved back to his hometown of Erie, where he was employed by General Electric for 35 years. After he retired, they relocated to Winter Haven. William was an avid fisherman, bowler, and traveler. He also liked to hunt, camp, and spend time with his family and won awards for his wood carvings.
William will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
