Floyd E. Clevenger, Jr. was born August 2, 1938, in Eagle Lake, Florida and died December 30, 2023, in Lakeland, FL at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his 4 children the last few days of his life.

Born in his Eagle Lake family home next to the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake, Floyd lived his entire childhood in Eagle Lake attending Eagle Lake School & Winter Haven High School.  The son of Floyd Sr. and Bertha (Sentell), he was the 4th of 6th children - Raymond, Alene, Dorothy, Jack, and Charlotte. Jack and Floyd Jr, only two years apart, were particularly close. They were best of friends throughout their entire lives.

In 1956, Floyd met the love of his life, Ann Kittrell Clevenger. Ann was a cute country girl, with big blue eyes, from Graceville, Fl. Floyd was a roller skating legend in Polk County. They were married in Donalsonville, GA on March 11, 1957. They made their home in Polk county and together they raised four children there. In 1977 they moved to Orlando for work, living there for over a decade. They later returned to Eagle Lake, where they lived until Ann’s death in 2006 and Floyd’s death in 2023. They were married for nearly 49 years.

Floyd worked for Independent Life Insurance Co., and its successors, for 35 years in sales & sales management before his retirement. He was very good at insurance sales, perhaps rooted in his early years working at his Father’s used car dealership. He later drove a school bus for Polk County schools. Floyd also enjoyed a passionate hobby selling caps & other items at several local flea markets.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Ann Kittrell Clevenger, his parents, 3 older siblings, and a granddaughter, Georgia Ann Billings.
