Laura Lee Nable, of Davenport, Florida passed away Tuesday October 3, 2006, in the loving care of her family at home. Born in Manchester, Kentucky, Mrs. Nable moved to Florida in 1934. Laura served her community as a Pink Lady, Girl Scout and Brownie leader. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Davenport Methodist Church, and the Davenport Woman's Club. Laura was an accomplished and renowned bridge player and achieved her Silver Life Master in 1993 at the Southwest Florida Regional Tournament. She was a businesswoman in Davenport and owned the L&H Grocery Store and Dress Shop with her sister, Helen. The Greyhound Bus Station was also part of the business. After taking time off for motherhood, Laura reentered the business world as a buyer for the House of Import, Gift Shops in the Disney area. Laura Nable, a hometown legend, will long be remembered as always being available for her family, friends and community in any time of need. She was also a member of the Kissimmee Elks Lodge # 1873, the Winter Haven Bridge Club, and the American Contract Bridge League with Silver Life Master status. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.K. "Bill" Nable. Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Knowles and Tracy Bryant of Davenport, Florida, Billie Bentley and Robin Wagman of Haines City; sister, Helen Theobald of Davenport; brothers, Joseph Hornsby of Houston, Texas and Bobby Hornsby of Whites Creek, Tennessee; four grandsons, three granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. Visitation will be Thursday October 5, from 4-6 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Davenport, Florida and Evergreen Cemetery. Robert Weatherall of Spring Hill Methodist Church will be officiating.
