Obituary of Rosie Irene Harrison

Rosie “Irene” Harrison passed away peacefully at her home on 1/8/2024. She was surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1953 in Blountstown, FL to Russell Tipton and Mildred Jenkins Strickland. She was a life long resident of the central Fl area.

Irene was full of life. She loved dancing, gardening, cooking, and loving on others. Every Spring you could always expect to see beautiful new flowers in her front yard. She loved to dance. In fact, she would spend hours as a young girl dancing with her older sister. Their dance of choice was the Jitter Bug.

She had an infectious laugh that would fill a room. She also had a mischief side and wasn’t afraid to show it. When cooking, her specialty was Southern cooking. If you happened to show up, you were always welcome to “help yourself”. It was something you didn’t want to miss.

She married the love of her life, Edward “Eddie” Harrison, in 1969. They were married for 45-1/2 years before his passing. Together, they raised four daughters. Irene loved her family they were all she needed to make her happy. She also loved her grandchildren and watching them being kids. As they grew, she especially loved sharing with them her passion like cooking and sewing.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her parents, sister Mildred McCellan, and brother Carl Sanderson. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Pete) Biasi, Orlando, FL; Rachael (Roy) Cole, Lake Wales, FL; Jennifer (Bobby) Vance, Statham, GA; and Carrie (Bill) Tyus, Duette, FL; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Brothers James Minton, Winter Haven, FL; Paul Tipton, Ft Pierce, FL; Darrell Sanderson, Everglades City, FL; Frankie Strickland, South Caolina; Richard Strickland, Mulberry, FL; Sisters, Linda Goss, Winter Haven, FL; Lamanda Jones, Lake Hamilton, FL; Many nieces and nephews who loved and adored her.
