Obituary of Jose R. Egipciaco, Sr.

Jose R. Egipciaco, Sr., 92, of Davenport, Florida, passed away on January 21, 2024. Born in Moca, Puerto Rico, on September 22, 1931, to Pedro Egipciaco and Isabel Arroyo, Jose was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Florida 30 years ago from Manhattan, New York, where he worked as a boiler technician for 25 years before retiring in 1994. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manhattan, NY and a current member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, FL. 

Jose enjoyed watching baseball, especially as a big Yankee fan. His hobbies included working on automobiles, playing softball, playing the lotto, card games, and fishing in his younger years. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nilka Egipciaco; and son, Emmanuel Egipciaco, Jose is survived by his sons, Jose Egipciaco, Jr. and wife Judith of Davenport, FL, Anthony Egipciaco and wife Francisca of NY, NY, and Joel Egipciaco and wife Amanda Hernandez of Fair Lawn, NJ. He leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at St Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, FL. Jose will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
